Ingredients
Yields 1 loaf
- (4 cups) all-purpose flour
- (2 tbsp) sugar
- (1 tsp) salt
- (1 packet / 0.25 oz) active dry yeast
- (1 1/2 cups) warm water
- (2 tbsp) unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
- 1
In a large mixing bowl, combine (4) cups all-purpose flour, (2) tbsp sugar, and (1) tsp salt, mixing well.
- 2
In a small bowl, dissolve (1 packet / 0.25 oz) active dry yeast in (1 1/2) cups warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- 3
Pour the yeast mixture into the flour mixture and add (2) tbsp melted unsalted butter. Stir until a dough forms.
- 4
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- 6
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190 °C).
- 7
After the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- 8
Cover the loaf with a cloth and let it rise again for about 20 minutes.
- 9
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- 10
Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
