Ingredients

Servings4

Yields 4 servings

  • (2 cups) fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • (1 cup) granulated sugar
  • (1 cup) water
  • (1/2 cups) freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • (1 tablespoon) lemon zest

Instructions

  1. 1

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool for about 15 minutes.

  2. 2

In a blender, add 2 cups of sliced strawberries, 1/2 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice, and 1 tablespoon of lemon zest. Blend until smooth.

  3. 3

Combine the cooled sugar syrup with the strawberry mixture in the blender and blend again until fully combined.

  4. 4

Pour the mixture into a shallow dish and place it in the freezer. Freeze for about 2 hours, stirring every 30 minutes to break up any ice crystals.

  5. 5

After 2 hours, continue to freeze for an additional 2 hours or until the sorbet is firm and scoopable.
