  • (1/4 teaspoons) salt
  • (1/2 cups) unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. 1

    Preheat the oven to 350°F (175 °C).

  2. 2

In a large bowl, combine 4 cups of pitted fresh cherries, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of cornstarch, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Toss until the cherries are well coated. Add 1/4 teaspoon salt.

  3. 3

Transfer the cherry mixture into a greased 8-inch square baking dish, spreading it evenly.

  4. 4

In another bowl, mix together 1 cup of rolled oats, 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.

  5. 5

Pour in 1/2 cup of melted unsalted butter and stir until the mixture is crumbly and well combined.

  6. 6

Spread the oat topping evenly over the cherry mixture in the baking dish.

  7. 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the cherries are bubbling.

  8. 8

Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
