- (1 cup) barbecue sauce
- (1/2 cups) chicken broth
- (1 tablespoon) brown sugar
- (1 tablespoon) smoked paprika
- (1 teaspoon) garlic powder
- (1 teaspoon) onion powder
- (1 teaspoon) salt
- (1/2 teaspoons) black pepper
- (1/2 teaspoons) cayenne pepper (optional)
- (4) hamburger buns (for serving)

Trim any excess fat from the 2 lbs pork shoulder and place it in the slow cooker.

In a bowl, mix together 1 cup barbecue sauce, 1/2 cup chicken broth, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, 1 tablespoon smoked paprika, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon onion powder, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, and 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (if using).

Pour the sauce mixture over the pork shoulder in the slow cooker, ensuring it is well coated.

Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.

Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the remaining sauce. Let it warm for an additional 10-15 minutes.
