Yields 12 biscuits
- (2 cups) all-purpose flour
- (1 tablespoon) baking powder
- (1/2 teaspoons) salt
- (1/2 teaspoons) black pepper
- (1/2 teaspoons) garlic powder
- (1/2 teaspoons) dried thyme
- (1/2 teaspoons) dried rosemary
- (1/2 cups) unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- (1 cup) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- (3/4 cups) whole milk
- (1 tablespoon) fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- 1
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220 °C).
- 2
In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, and 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary. Add 2/4 teaspoon salt, 2/4 teaspoon black pepper, 2/4 teaspoon garlic powder, and 2/4 teaspoon dried thyme.
- 3
Add 1/2 cup chilled and cubed unsalted butter to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 4
Stir in 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese and 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley until evenly distributed.
- 5
Pour in 3/4 cup whole milk and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- 6
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times until it holds together. Pat it into a 1-inch thick round.
- 7
Using a biscuit cutter or a glass, cut out biscuits and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 8
Gather any scraps, re-pat the dough, and cut out additional biscuits until all dough is used.
- 9
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.
- 10
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
