Refreshing Spring Strawberry Basil Lemonade

Ingredients

- (1 cup) fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- (1/2 cups) fresh basil leaves, packed
- (1 cup) granulated sugar
- (1 cup) fresh lemon juice (about 4-6 lemons)
- (4 cups) water
- Ice cubes
- Lemon slices and basil sprigs for garnish

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is fully dissolved to create a simple syrup. Remove from heat and let it cool. Add 2/4 cup fresh basil leaves, packed and Lemon slices and basil sprigs for garnish.

In a blender, combine the sliced strawberries and 1/2 cup of fresh basil leaves. Blend until smooth, then strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a large pitcher to remove the pulp.

Add 1 cup of fresh lemon juice to the strawberry-basil mixture in the pitcher.

Pour in the cooled simple syrup and the remaining 3 cups of water. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.

Taste the lemonade and adjust sweetness by adding more sugar or water if desired.

Chill the lemonade in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
