Ingredients
Yields 4 servings
- (1 lb) chicken breast, sliced into strips
- (2 tbsp) olive oil
- (1 tsp) dried oregano
- (1 tsp) garlic powder
- (1 tsp) paprika
- (1/2 tsp) salt
- (1/2 tsp) black pepper
- (4) pita breads
- (1 cup) lettuce, shredded
- (1) tomato, diced
- (1/2) red onion, thinly sliced
- (1/2) cucumber, grated
- (1 cup) plain Greek yogurt
- (1 clove) garlic, minced
- (1 tbsp) fresh dill, chopped
- (1 tbsp) lemon juice
Instructions
- 1
In a bowl, combine 1 lb chicken breast, 2 tbsp olive oil, 1 tsp dried oregano, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp paprika, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/2 tsp black pepper. Mix well to coat the chicken evenly.
- 2
Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated chicken for about 6-8 minutes, or until fully cooked and golden brown, stirring occasionally.
- 3
While the chicken cooks, prepare the Tzatziki sauce by mixing 1 cup plain Greek yogurt, 1 clove minced garlic, 1 tbsp chopped fresh dill, and 1 tbsp lemon juice in a bowl. Stir until well combined and set aside.
- 4
Warm the 4 pita breads in a dry skillet or microwave for a few seconds until soft and pliable.
- 5
To assemble the gyros, place a portion of the cooked chicken in each pita. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomato, and sliced red onion.
- 6
Drizzle the prepared Tzatziki sauce over the top of the fillings in each pita. Serve immediately.
