Yields 1 12-inch pizza

  • (2 1/4 cups) all-purpose flour
  • (1 teaspoon) salt
  • (1 teaspoon) sugar
  • (1 packet) (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • (3/4 cups) warm water (110°F)
  • (1 tablespoon) olive oil
  • (1 cup) pizza sauce
  • (1 1/2 cups) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • (1/4 cups) grated Parmesan cheese
  • (1 teaspoon) dried oregano

Instructions

    In a small bowl, combine 3/4 cup warm water and 1 packet of active dry yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.

    In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon sugar.

    Add the yeast mixture and 1 tablespoon olive oil to the flour mixture. Stir until a dough forms.

    Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.

    Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.

    Preheat the oven to 475°F (245 °C).

    Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to fit your pizza pan.

    Transfer the rolled-out dough to a greased pizza pan or baking sheet.

    Spread 1 cup of pizza sauce evenly over the dough.

    Sprinkle 1 1/2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce.

    Top the dough with sauce and mozzarella. Add optional toppings if desired, then bake until golden and bubbling.
