Homemade Garlic Breadsticks

Ingredients
Yields 1 loaf
- (2 cups) all-purpose flour
- (1 packet) (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- (1/2 cups) warm water (110°F)
- (1/2 teaspoons) sugar
- (1/2 teaspoons) salt
- (2 tablespoons) olive oil
- (3 cloves) garlic, minced
- (1/4 cups) unsalted butter, melted
- (1/4 teaspoons) dried oregano
- (1/4 teaspoons) garlic powder
- (1/4 teaspoons) grated Parmesan cheese

In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup warm water, 1/2 teaspoon sugar, and 1 packet of active dry yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy. Add 2/4 teaspoon salt.

In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups all-purpose flour and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and 2 tablespoons olive oil.

Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes or until doubled in size.

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190 °C).

Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.

Cut the dough into strips about 1 inch wide and place them on a greased baking sheet.

In a small bowl, mix together 1/4 cup melted butter, 3 minced garlic cloves, 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano, and 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder.

Brush the garlic butter mixture generously over the breadsticks, then sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon grated Parmesan cheese.
