Ingredients

Servings4

Yields 1 loaf

  • (1) loaf French bread
  • (1/2 cups) unsalted butter, softened
  • (4 cloves) garlic, minced
  • (1/4 cups) fresh parsley, chopped
  • (1/2 teaspoons) salt
  • (1/4 teaspoons) black pepper
  • (1/4 teaspoons) red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

    Preheat your oven to 375°F (190 °C).

  2. 2

In a mixing bowl, combine 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened, with 4 cloves garlic, minced, 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (if using). Mix until well combined. Add 2/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional).

  3. 3

Slice the loaf of French bread in half lengthwise.

  4. 4

Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread.

  5. 5

Wrap the bread halves in aluminum foil and place on a baking sheet.

  6. 6

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, until the bread is warm and the butter is melted.

  7. 7

For a crispy top, remove the foil and broil for an additional 2-3 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.

  8. 8

Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, then slice and serve.
