Servings4

Yields 4 servings

  • (1) box yellow cake mix
  • (1/2 cups) unsalted butter, melted
  • (1) large egg
  • (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • (2) large eggs
  • (4 cups) powdered sugar
  • (1 teaspoon) vanilla extract
  • (1/4 teaspoons) salt

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175 °C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

In a mixing bowl, combine 1 box yellow cake mix, 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter, and 1 large egg. Mix until well combined and press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.

  3. 3

In another bowl, beat together 8 oz softened cream cheese and 2 large eggs until smooth. Gradually add 4 cups powdered sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Mix until fully combined and creamy.

  4. 4

Pour the cream cheese mixture over the cake layer in the baking pan, spreading it evenly.

  5. 5

Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is slightly jiggly. Do not overbake.

  6. 6

Remove from the oven and let it cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing into squares.
