Ingredients
Yields 4 servings
- (8 oz) pasta of choice
- (1 tbsp) olive oil
- (1) onion, diced
- (3 cloves) garlic, minced
- (1 can / 14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- (1/2 cups) heavy cream
- (1/2 cups) grated Parmesan cheese
- (1/4 cups) fresh basil, chopped
- (1/2 tsp) salt
- (1/4 tsp) black pepper
- (1/4 tsp) red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- 1
Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the (8 oz) pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- 2
In a large skillet, heat (1 tbsp) olive oil over medium heat. Add the (1) diced onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- 3
Add the (3 cloves) minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.
- 4
Stir in the (1 can / 14.5 oz) diced tomatoes with their juices, and bring to a simmer. Cook for 5 minutes.
- 5
Reduce the heat and stir in the (1/2 cup) heavy cream, followed by the (1/2 cup) grated Parmesan cheese. Mix until the cheese is melted and the sauce is creamy.
- 6
Add the (1/4 cup) chopped fresh basil, (1/2 tsp) salt, (1/4 tsp) black pepper, and (1/4 tsp) red pepper flakes if using. Stir well to combine.
- 7
Toss the cooked pasta into the sauce, ensuring the pasta is well-coated. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
- 8
Serve hot, garnished with extra basil and Parmesan if desired.
