Classic Chicken and Asparagus Stir-Fry

Ingredients

- (1 lb) chicken breast, sliced into thin strips
- (1 lb) asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
- (2 tablespoons) vegetable oil
- (3 cloves) garlic, minced
- (1 tablespoon) fresh ginger, minced
- (1/4 cups) soy sauce
- (1 tablespoon) cornstarch
- (1/2 cups) chicken broth
- (1 tablespoon) sesame oil
- (1 teaspoon) black pepper
- (1 teaspoon) red pepper flakes (optional)
- (2) green onions, sliced for garnish

In a small bowl, mix 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, and 1/2 cup chicken broth until smooth. Set aside. Add 1 teaspoon black pepper and 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional).

Heat 2 tablespoons vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

Add the sliced chicken breast (1 lb) to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the chicken is golden and cooked through.

Add minced garlic (3 cloves) and minced ginger (1 tablespoon) to the skillet and stir-fry for 1 minute until fragrant.

Add the asparagus (1 lb) to the skillet and stir-fry for an additional 3-4 minutes until the asparagus is tender-crisp.

Pour the soy sauce mixture over the chicken and asparagus, stirring well to combine. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.

Drizzle 1 tablespoon sesame oil over the stir-fry and season with black pepper (1 teaspoon) and red pepper flakes (optional). Stir to combine.
