Freshly baked cinnamon rolls with glaze

Ingredients

Servings4

Yields 8 rolls

  • (2 1/4 cups) all-purpose flour
  • (1/4 cups) granulated sugar
  • (1 packet) (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • (1/2 teaspoons) salt
  • (1/2 cups) milk
  • (1/4 cups) water
  • (1/4 cups) unsalted butter
  • (1) large egg
  • (1 tablespoon) ground cinnamon
  • (1/4 cups) brown sugar
  • (1/2 cups) powdered sugar
  • (1 tablespoon) vanilla extract
  • (1 -2 tablespoons) milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. 1

In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup milk, 1/4 cup water, and 1/4 cup unsalted butter. Heat until warm but not boiling, then remove from heat.

  2. 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, 1/4 cup granulated sugar, 1 packet active dry yeast, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.

  3. 3

Add the warm milk mixture and 1 large egg to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.

  4. 4

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes in a warm place.

  5. 5

After the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle (about 12x8 inches). Spread 1/4 cup brown sugar and 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon evenly over the surface.

  6. 6

Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 8 equal pieces. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let rise for another 20 minutes.

  7. 7

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175 °C). Bake the cinnamon rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

  8. 8

While the rolls are baking, prepare the glaze by mixing 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon vanilla extract, and 1-2 tablespoons milk until smooth.

  9. 9

Once the rolls are done, drizzle the glaze over the warm cinnamon rolls and serve.
