Ingredients
Yields 4 servings
- (4) boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- (1 cup) all-purpose flour
- (2) large eggs
- (1 cup) breadcrumbs
- (1/2 cups) grated Parmesan cheese
- (1 teaspoon) garlic powder
- (1 teaspoon) dried oregano
- (1 teaspoon) salt
- (1/2 teaspoons) black pepper
- (2 cups) marinara sauce
- (1 1/2 cups) shredded mozzarella cheese
- (2 tablespoons) olive oil
- (1/4 cups) fresh basil leaves (optional)
Instructions
- 1
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200 °C).
- 2
Place 1 cup of all-purpose flour in a shallow dish. In another shallow dish, beat 2 large eggs. In a third shallow dish, mix 1 cup of breadcrumbs, 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon dried oregano, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper.
- 3
Dip each chicken breast into the flour, shaking off excess, then into the beaten eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing to adhere.
- 4
In a large oven-safe skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the breaded chicken breasts and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- 5
Pour 2 cups of marinara sauce over the chicken breasts in the skillet. Sprinkle 1 1/2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce.
- 6
Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- 7
Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired before serving.
