Servings4

Yields 4 servings

  • (12 oz) ziti pasta
  • (2 cups) marinara sauce
  • (15 oz) ricotta cheese
  • (2 cups) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • (1/2 cups) grated Parmesan cheese
  • (1) large egg
  • (1 tsp) dried oregano
  • (1 tsp) garlic powder
  • (1/2 tsp) salt
  • (1/4 tsp) black pepper
  • (1/4 cups) fresh basil, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. 1

    Preheat the oven to 375°F (190 °C).

  2. 2

Cook 12 oz ziti pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

  3. 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine 15 oz ricotta cheese, 1 large egg, 1 tsp dried oregano, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  4. 4

Add the cooked ziti pasta to the ricotta mixture and stir to coat the pasta evenly.

  5. 5

Pour in 2 cups marinara sauce and mix until the pasta is well coated with the sauce.

  6. 6

In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spread half of the pasta mixture. Sprinkle half of the 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese over the top.

  7. 7

Layer the remaining pasta mixture on top and finish with the remaining mozzarella cheese and 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese.

  8. 8

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

  9. 9

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

  10. 10

If desired, sprinkle with 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil before serving.
